Digital Camera readers show how they’ve been getting creative, submitting images across a range of genres

1 ‘Untitled’ by Peter East Hall

“Hastings in Sussex is known for its fishing and net huts. I took this shot because I liked the contrast of colours. Taken on my Nikon D3400, at the wide end of my 18-200mm lens to get it all in.”

Digital Camera says: Great shot, Peter! Not only does it have great colour contrast but there’s also a striking contrast between the light and dark areas across the image.

Digital Camera says: This is a portrait full of soul and depth, Ralph, and a reminder of what sounds like a memorable encounter. For a tighter crop, we would lose some of the negative headroom above the subject.

4 ‘The Great Gallery’ by David Jenkins

“Following the approved route through the impressive Venaria Reale in Turin makes for a long afternoon. As I was leaving, I turned to look back at the Great Gallery. It was almost empty, so I did my best to do justice to its size. It’s 80 metres long and the people give you some idea of the scale.”

Digital Camera says: A truly grand capture, David, with sharp and straight lines throughout. However, we wonder whether boosting the mid-tones with
