Digital Camera readers show how they’ve been getting creative, submitting images across a range of genres

1 ‘Iceberg’s Watery Veil’ by Shaun Antle

“Captured just off the coast of Twillingate, Newfoundland, this iceberg is adorned with a crystalline waterfall, where frozen beauty meets the gentle flow of water. It’s a stunning collision of elements captured in one mesmerising frame.”

Digital Camera says:

A perfect example of capturing the moment, Shaun’s photo expresses a feeling of power and marvel in the natural world. The inclusion of the waterfall adds movement to what would otherwise be quite a static image.

2 ‘Milky Way over Pangong Tent’ by Soumyadeep Mukherjee

“Situated at an altitude of 14,000 feet, Pangong Tso is one of the highest lakes in India. The image shows the Sagittarius arm of the Milky Way over the Heritage Camp tents where we stayed for the night. The scene was an exceptional one to be able to see (almost) with the naked eye, accompanied by strong airglow on some parts of the sky. We were fighting temperatures of -20C, with strong winds at the location. This is one of the many images that we were able to capture from the trip.”

Settings: 20 secs at f/2.8, ISO 5000, 16mm focal length.

Digital Camera says: A superb capture and an original shot capturing the Milky Way from an isolated part of the world. The foreground of the tents against the backdrop of the Milky Way really sets the scene for this otherworldly location.

3 ‘The Solitude of Prime Numbers’ by David Turbino

“A young girl leans against a table with her back turned towards the camera. The setting appears to be just after a thunderstorm, as the table is wet and the surrounding area looks damp. The girl is wearing a grey raincoat and appears lost in thought, perhaps reflecting on the storm that has just passed.”

Digital Camera says: We loved the composition and the harmonious hues in this capture. The central positioning of the girl and the colourful pop of her red boots really attract the viewer’s eyes. The inclusion of the tables makes the viewer ponder what she is doing. It’s an example of documentary photography at its best.

4 ‘The Sandman’ by Steve Lewis

“This image was taken in March this year, on the Mekong river in Vietnam. The subject was on a barge and was watering a load of sand. I managed to catch his eye as the barge went past.”

Digital Camera says: With direct eye contact, this is a great shot. The subject is placed crouched in a central position to suggest solidity and stillness, which contrasts well with the burst of water from the hose, which is captured in detail with a
