Born and raised in Krakow, Poland, Paula is a London-based graphic designer and photographer. Having been an enthusiastic photographer since her teenage years, Paula is now a full-time working pro, blending two of her passions in image creation and design. Her portfolio covers a variety of genres but because of her love of music, she says one of her favourite types of assignment is being asked to design album covers for bands.

Career Path

When did you start out in your current photo genres?

Although I’ve had an interest in photography since my teenage years, it wasn’t until seven years ago that I pushed it as a professional career. It was through portrait photography that I fell in love with the craft, and it’s been my passion ever since. I love capturing people and showing their uniqueness through my lens and if I can incorporate it with my love for urban and architecture, that’s a bonus.

What challenges did you face as a startup and how did you overcome them?

My greatest challenge was getting out of my comfort zone, self-doubt and starting to believe that I can actually do this. It does take a leap of faith and determination. I often feel like I am my own worst critic when it comes to my work, which can be a good thing sometimes as you always strive to improve yourself and your skills. I also had to learn marketing strategy, study and learn more, which is a never ending-journey. Having a great portfolio is important but if you don’t know how to market yourself in such a competitive industry it will be difficult to land clients. Another challenge was getting over my shyness.
