Fancy some new recipes for your air-fryer? This time we're focusing on bakes

Tips for air-fryer baking success

■ Start by using the recipes that come in your air-fryer booklet.

■ Once you see how the manufacturer’s recipes come out, you can start experimenting with similar recipes, sizes and techniques of your own.

■ Preheat the air-fryer for any baked goods containing a raising agent like yeast or baking powder, which rely on an initial burst of heat to help with rising.

■ Air-fryers vary, so we recommend checking halfway through cooking and varying the cooking time, if necessary.

Air-fryer banana bread

If you have browning bananas, don't throw them away! They're perfect for this recipe

■ Serves 10-12 ■ Prep 10 mins ■ Cook 1 hr

150ml sunflower or vegetable oil,
plus extra for the tin
150g caster sugar
150g self-raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 eggs
2 overripe bananas, mashed
50g each chopped pecans and
chocolate chips (optional)

1Oil a 1-litre loaf tin and line with baking parchment – you’ll need to make sure this will fit in the air-fryer basket. If it doesn’t, use a muffin tin or other shape that will work with your machine.

2Heat the air-fryer to 160C. Mix the oil, sugar, flour, baking powder and eggs in a bowl. Mix in the bananas, then half the pecans and all the chocolate chips. Pour into the tin and top with the remaining pecans.

3Bake for 45 mins-1 hr until a skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean. Leave to cool on a wire rack before serving. Will keep in an airtight container for up to three days.

TOP TIP

Check after 20 mins in case it’s beginning to brown too much. If so, turn the heat down to 140C, or cover with foil to prevent burning.
