Lantern festival

Spanish designer Jaime Hayon is bringing colour to one of his most beloved designs: the ‘Formakami’. The new limited-edition version of the ‘JH5’ model – inspired by the rice-paper lanterns found in Kyoto, where they are used as signage – arrives adorned with Hayon’s signature flying birds and organic shapes. ‘I was honouring a centuries-old craft, applying my own skillset to present it in a 21st-century reality,’ says Hayon. £300 (andtradition.com).

Block party

Icelandic interior and lifestyle brand Fólk likes to experiment with materials: it first burst onto the scene with a line of cushions made from used airbags. Now the brand has launched a collection of trinkets designed by Olína Rögnudóttir. The ‘Living Object’ range is made from leftover materials from Portuguese stone makers. Those already familiar with Sebastian Cox will know the designer has a knack for producing beautiful solid-wood furniture. Cox’s latest offering, ‘Quartered’, is a chunky table crafted from the timber offcuts left over from work in his studio.
