‘Suave’ is the key word this season, as we look towards months punctuated by cocktail soirées and elevated dinner parties. We’re swerving the red and green synonymous with this time of year and looking instead to glossy black, deep navy and twinkling silver. Cheers, everyone!

The inspiration
One of the original 24-hour party people, Peter Saville, graphic designer and partner in music label Factory Records, spent much of his career working from ‘The Apartment’ in Mayfair. Part home, part studio, this space was designed by Saville and long-term collaborator Ben Kelly, who preserved almost all of the property’s original 1970s details – smoked glass, tinted mirrors and high-gloss finishes (as seen below in the bedroom) – and added 90s touches. Louche and playfully seedy, Saville’s apartment featured on the controversial cover of Pulp’s This Is Hardcore album, released in 1998.
