An audio enthusiasts’ dream...

For fans of streaming audio, this app’s a wee gem. Airfoil expands on macOS’ music streaming capabilities, allowing you to send your tunes to any or all speakers connected to your home network, and to target groups of speakers as well as individual devices. As well as your Music app library, you can stream services like Spotify, Pandora or Apple Music, or websites like YouTube, and have it received by thousands of supported devices including HomePod, Google Chromecast, Sonos devices, AirPlay speakers and Bluetooth speakers. You can have music all over your home, and control it on your Mac.

A complementary app called Airfoil Satellite can be installed on Macs, Windows PCs, iPhones, iPads, Android devices and Apple TV. This allows you to stream your music to computers, mobile gear and Apple’s television companion, along with your speakers. As well as streaming your music, you can also use Airfoil Satellite to control it too. You might be streaming your sounds from your Mac in the attic office, but you can use the iPhone in your pocket to change albums, skip tracks and more.

Synchronised sounds

Airfoil always keeps your music in sync around the house, even when it’s streaming to different speaker types. You can manually select which speakers are included, and group individual output sources into groups and switch the transmission on or off with a single click.
