Do we all have a GUIDE?
Q I have only recently become interested in spirituality and I’m intrigued by the notion of ‘spirit guides’.
Can you please tell me, does everyone have a spirit guide or only those who are psychic? If so, how do we contact them? Are they similar to guardian angels? And finally, Gordon, what can we ask them to help us with?
A It is my belief everyone has a spirit guide of some description. Some people may refer to them as guardians or spiritual teachers, and so on. The fact that you are thinking about your guide will allow them to give you signs that they are around, especially if you need them.
Many people want to know about guides and what they can do for them. But I also believe the guide isn’t just there to help with our life, but to encourage us to become better versions of ourselves. Connecting with a spirit guide means we look at ourselves and the world from a more spiritual perspective.
Why was her life so HARD?
Q My lovely mum died last year after a decade of ill health. When I look back on her life, I can’t help wondering why she suffered so much. She had two stillborn babies, lost my dad when she was only 47, and despite holding down two jobs, paying the bills was always a struggle. She also did lots of voluntary work with children. So will she be rewarded in the afterlife?
A I’m certain that your mother has already been rewarded in the afterlife. People like your dear mum who help others without thought of reward in this life are made of very strong stuff. And although, to others, their life may appear hard, I get a feeling that your mother was not afraid of the hardships she faced and carried on regardless. I’m sure she won’t be carrying any thoughts of suffering — instead, she is rejoicing with all those who went before her. Remember her virtues and her kindness and her love. This lives on if we allow it.
Did she see his SPIRIT?
Q My best friend nursed her husband to the end. Just before he died, she had a very strange experience. She was sitting at his bedside when she came out of her own body and looked down on her husband in the bed. When she turned around, he was floating next to her! It was over in a flash and he died peacefully a few minutes later. Now she’s convinced this was a ‘shared death experience’. Is she right?
A This sounds to me like a shared love experience. I say this because the bond of love between people can allow such beautiful spiritual experiences to occur. I truly hope that your friend treasures this incredible happening, as it will help her as she goes on with her life in the days to come.
