You’ve heard of beauty boxes — well, how about a witch box? There are now all sorts of boxes on offer, from aura-cleansing kits to Moon bath rituals, all promising to nurture wellness and empowerment.

While I’m not a full-on witch, I do follow the Moon phases and believe in respecting nature. So I put these six spiritual boxes through their paces, to see which would be a naughty or nice addition to your Christmas stocking.

CLEAR AND CLEANSE AURA KIT

Buy: From Aura Kits at aurakits. co.uk, £24.99

The promise: To cleanse, heal and balance your aura and take a break from the noise of everyday life.

Contents: Born Wild candle, sage incense, a grapeseed essential oil roll-on, meditation beads, carnelian crystal and reiki-infused pink bath salts.

The ritual: After a long and stressful day dealing with my house renovation, I could do with cleansing my aura! I light the gorgeous, scented candle, then a sage stick, which I waft around my body to remove negative energy.

Next, I make a circle of salt to sit inside, holding the carnelian stone, and repeat a suggested affirmation: ‘Everything always works out for me’. I sit inside the circle for 10 minutes, and whenever negative thoughts about the house renovation flash up, I repeat the mantra.

Verdict: Following my aura cleansing, I feel calmer and less stressed. The issues with the renovation no longer seem so daunting, which is refreshing.

BABY WITCH BOX

Buy: From TheSecretCrystl Witch on Etsy, £26.99

The promise: The ideal kit to get you started with witchcraft or to add to your witchy paraphernalia.

Contents: Chest for storage, three crystals and incense cones, two glass bottles, one tealight, five herbs, a bag of Himalayan salts, one pentagram charm, plus moss, a feather and a shell.

The ritual: There are no instructions for spellworking, so beware if you don’t already have a houseful of witchy books! However, the description outlines the elemental items and their properties for use with an altar or spell, so I place the items on my living room mantelpiece.

The moss is for the direction of the North, the earth element, and for strength. The feather is for the East, and air, and brings in the energy of knowledge. The tealight is for the South, and fire, and represents action, while the shell represents water and emotions, and is for the direction of the West.

Verdict: I’m a big believer in space clearing and balancing the energy of the four elements in the home, which brings harmony to your space.

Having these four items on display feels like a beautiful addition to the rocks and shells I’ve collected on my travels ov
