Find out why the spook in your life might be feeling more amorous than angry

Ever had the feeling that someone is in the room with you, or even watching you? Sometimes it can feel malevolent or sinister. But other times it feels the opposite, as if this invisible person is feeling something else for you. Something like… love.

Rachel Cope, owner of Angel Attic Independent Psychic Centre and international medium, says she has had people contact her who have been through this.

She says: ‘In all those I’ve spoken to, there is a common denominator — either a physical loss (a bereavement) or an emotional loss (separation, divorce).

‘Some have wanted to rid this entity from their lives, and others are quite happy to have it around them, as they make them feel happy, wanted and comforted. It’s very much a personal choice.’ Rachel says that, far from being a modern thing, people throughout history in all cultures have spoken about other entities trying to be romantic or even physical with them.

‘We need to look back to see where this originated,’ she says. ‘These findings bring us to incubus (male demon, derived from the Latin word “incubo” — nightmare) and succubus (female).

But celebrity psychic Inbaal Honigman says it’s more than just folklore.

Inbaal says: ‘It’s absolutely possible for a specific Spirit to develop romantic feelings towards a living person. The person pursued would remind the Spirit of someone from their earthly life, such as a forbidden love or a widow.

‘I’ve known of a haunted castle where all the girls who could see the haunting Spirit looked similar to one another, and when it was investigated, all those ladies looked like the woman the Spirit pursued while he was alive. He would reveal himself only to women who he thought may have been her.’

Some people describe the feeling of someone actually trying to be intimate with them, or climbing in bed with them, which some scientific experts equate to sleep paralysis.

Rachel concedes: ‘One scientific explanation for the incubus concept could fall under the scope of sleep paralysis where people have felt tingles, vibrations, or imagined the presence of a visible or invisible entity, which can appear to be both real and vivid. But sometimes, that’s not the case, and it feels very real.’

Inbaal says the signs that a spook may have amorous feelings towards you are easy to spot.

She says: ‘If a Spirit is in love with you or obsessed with you, you’ll have a feeling of being watch
