1 IN HOT WATER

If you’re anything like FFT, you’ve probably always dreamed of watching a nondescript Ligue 1 fixture from a hot tub – when Troyes hosted Rennes in the battle for mid-table, two fans did just that.

Troyes have spent the past 20 years struggling to recapture the drama of the early 2000s, when they drew 4-4 at Newcastle in Europe, then lost 6-5 on aggregate to Leeds. They’ve since become a sister club of Manchester City, bought by the City Football Group in 2020, and returned to Ligue 1 last year.

Sadly, his first five appearances for Malmo didn’t deliver a single goal – if only his brother could have stood in for him then as well...

3 IN THE FIRING LINE

Former PSG striker Edinson Cavani became known for pointing an imaginary rifle to celebrate goals – Yago Cariello went one step further.

When the Brazilian netted a late goal to give Portimonense victory over Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal’s top flight, Cariello grabbed a corner flag, turned it into a makeshift gun, then pretended to shoot at the away fans.

It didn’t go down well: furious Vitoria supporters hurled missiles towards him, before opposition players charged over and angrily confronted him.

An apologetic Cariello swiftly headed back to the halfway line, wishing he hadn’t bothered. “Fine, I’ll just s
