Make tasty rosemary salt

Easy PROJECT

A simple jar of herb flavoured salt makes a great festive gift, fresh from the garden or windowbox!

1 Cut some fresh, healthy rosemary shoots 1 from your plant, taking care not to cut into thick, woody growth. Use sharp scissors and make a cut just above a pair of leaves.

2 Wash the cut stems then strip the 2 leaves from the stem, discarding any showing blemishes. The leafless stems can be cut up and put in the compost bin.

3 Add a thin layer of rock salt to the 3 bottom of sterilised jars (recycled jam or chutney jars work well), then sprinkle a later of rosemary leaves on top, just enough to cover the salt layer.

4 Add another layer of salt, 3-4cm 4 thick, then add another layer of rosemary leaves until you’ve reach a level just below the groove in the jar that the lid secures to.

5 Secure the lid then tie with 5 some coloured soft string to match and make a stylish gift, finished off with a sprig of fresh rosemary to add fresh fragrance to the present.
