NEW LAUNCHES

TaylorMade’s proprietary five-layer construction is unique among the major manufacturers

l Since debuting in 2017, TaylorMade’s TP5 and TP5x franchise has consistently delivered premium results at the very top of the market. Utilising its proprietary five-layer system, the brand has maintained everything that was good about the previous generation while making a key change to the core design, which aims to lower driver and iron spin yet still optimise greenside control.

l The biggest change comes via a first-of-its-kind technology called Speed Wrapped Core. TaylorMade has altered the make-up of the core, which now uses a lower-density acoustic material in its original state that sounds and, in turn, feels softer than before. Because feel relates closely to sound, TaylorMade has been able to firm up the core to boost ball speed without losing out on feel or acoustics.

l The TP5 is once again aimed at players who want a softer feel from a tour-level golf ball, with enhanced greenside spin. The driver spin in the new TP5 has been reduced compared with the prior generation, while greenside control remains at a very high level.

l The TP5x is aimed at the player who prioritises ball speed. Also seeing a reduction in driver and longiron spin, the new model delivers significant ballspeed gains over the prior generation, making it TaylorMade’s fastest-ever five-layer golf ball.

l The Pix versions of these golf balls with ClearPath alignment also return for 2024, with some slight tweaks to the graphics that have seen the triangle turn into a diamond shape. The orange colour palette has become more prominent, too.

The standard TP5 and TP5x are £44.99 a dozen; the Pix versions are £47.99 a dozen
