I felt as if Fern Britton (August) was eloquently telling my story. Last summer, I left my job, my two beloved cats died and my

30-year marriage ended. It nearly broke me. But, like Fern, I found inner strength. I now have a new job I love with the NHS, I celebrated turning 60, and I’ve found to my surprise that I love gardening, walking and being single!

LESSONS FOR JOY

I was so interested in How To Silence Your Inner Critic (June). With a hectic life, finding joy can often be limited. I get caught up in negativity and listening to my fears. I will keep in mind my purpose, what makes me happy and that I can learn from mistakes, too.

LITTLE AND OFTEN

I hadn’t heard of the ‘snacktivity’ concept before reading Chloe Gray’s feature Put Down The Biscuits And Try Snacktivity (June). Snacking, yes – I’m an expert in that, thanks – but snacktivity is a new one. The concept of building in bite-size nuggets of exercise tagged on to daily activities is appealing! If I do squats every time I boil the kettle, I’ll become strong in no time.

Thanks, Ruby Wax, for highlighting the stigma around mental health (July). With my depression and anxiety, I could see no way forward. My rock was my amazing husband, who is my steadfast support. I have now been well for five years. I found a brilliant therapist who made me believe that I could get better, and I did. I’m now a happy, positive person, looking forward to embracing life.
