REDISCOVERING MY CONFIDENCE

I loved Do What Makes You Happy! (November). In January 2020, I joined a class called ‘Anyone Can Sing’. As a perimenopausal woman, I’d lost confidence in my singing skills and in myself. But driving home after that first class, I was teary, grinning and singing loudly. I knew I had regained an important part of myself.

I had a wonderful time at the Good Housekeeping Live reader event in November! It was a treat to get up close and personal with people I’ve only seen on TV, such as Dame Mary Berry, Shirley Ballas and Monica Galetti. A wonderful time with experts and celebrities who now feel like friends!

I’m completely in awe of 11-year-old Isabella Searle’s short story (Once Upon A Christmas Story, December). Her tale had me in tears thinking of countless little girls in Ukraine who miss their daddies and pray for peace. But I also felt incredibly heartwarmed that Isabella chose to write so compassionately.

I enjoyed reading Grace Dent’s celebration of comfort food (When Only A Bowl Of Chips And Mint Sauce Will Do, November.) Her ‘drawer of deliciousness’, ‘slippery sadness’ and cheese on toast all resonated with me and brought back memories of my mother. Loved it.
