WHEN ASKED BY New York magazine in 2009 about her infamous party girl lifestyle, Kate Moss replied with a typically tongue in cheek, ‘I haven’t partied since... last Friday!’ She was joking, but Moss’s party prowess has a subcategory all of its own in the ’90s and noughties history books – with her birthday bashes becoming bona fide pop culture moments. Johnny Depp and Michael Hutchence performed at her 21st, and who could forget that The Beautiful And Damned-themed 30th at Claridge’s? Or the four-day Glastonbury-themed Cotswolds extravaganza for her 40th, which reportedly had a six-figure bar bill?

And so, of course, all the stops were duly pulled out for the Croydon-born supermodel’s 50th, with not only a lavish trip to the private Caribbean island of Mustique with a select group of close friends, but a chic soirée at the Ritz Paris with more of her nearest and dearest, including boyfriend Nikolai von Bismarck, 21-year-old daughter Lila, beauty mogul Charlotte Tilbury, tennis player Venus Williams and fashion designer Stella McCartney. If you needed more proof that 50 is the new 40, the images of Moss sweeping into the Ritz Paris in a bodysuit layered under a vintage black lace dress and black satin Alexandra King cape (perhaps, like the rest of us, she is a Traitors fan) confirm that she is still as captivating and agenda-setting as she has ever been.

But just as the decadence of Moss’s 30th debauched bash – with its free-flowing Krug and Cristal and waiters on hand to light guests’ cigarettes – defined its time, perhaps we can see the current state of party affairs reflected back at us when we look at the finer details of how the model chose to celebrate her 50th. The Mustique trip was reported to be a booze-free girls’ trip, where Moss was celebrated by her closest female friends, including longtime BFF Sadie Frost (who is godmother to Lila, while Kate, in turn, is godmother to Sadie’s daughter Iris), the model-turned-nutritionist Rosemary Ferguson, fashion stylist Katy England, floral designer Flora Starkey, fashion casting director Jess Shallet and designer Jess Morris. In an Instagram photo of Moss taken by Frost during the trip, she wears a black dress by Hansine (a brand which describes itself as ‘bohemian luxury’, a tagline that actually neatly describes Moss herself ) and a flower crown, and holds her face up to the sun
