SUMMER SKIN, SORTED

Sun! Heat! Humidity ! If you’re familiar with the increased oiliness combined with dehydration and sensitivity that summer often brings, here’s how to fix the problem.

1.
2.

CLEVER CLEANSING

Clogged pores and breakouts are common summer gripes, but smart face washing can combat both. Swap rich cream or oil-based cleansers for gentle gel or foaming versions. ‘They effectively remove sweat, excess oil and sunscreen without leaving a heavy residue,’ says Dr Ejikeme, founder and medical director of Adonia Medical Clinic. Gel-to -milk Bioeffect Facial Cleanser [1], £55, is boosted with hydrating hero squalene, while antioxidant barley-beta glucan brings down any redness.

HYDRATE, PROTECT, SOOTHE

‘Leave heavier, richer formulas for winter,’ advises Ejikeme, ‘instead look for lightweight, oil-free formulas that contain ingredients such as hyaluronic acid for hydration, antioxidants like vitamin C to protect against sun damage and soothing agents such as aloe vera to calm irritation.’ Choose formulas that provide hydration without feeling heavy. To protect: Dr Sam Bunting Flawless Vitamin C NAD+ Serum [4], £62, is a triple threat with UV protection, barrier-boosting benefits and skin cell rejuvenation. Impressive.

To soothe: Itchy, red, flaky skin will breathe a sigh of relief when slathered in Laneige Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Intensive Moisturizer [5], £33.50, thanks to proficient repairer Omega Peptide Complex.

5.

THE TAN COMMANDMENTS

In search of an Ibiza glow but not heading to the White Isle? Follow the rule of two: two layers of self-tan – the optimum for looking sun-kissed rather than just subtle-hint-of-colour-washed, says James Harknett, the man responsible for the bronzed bods of David Gandy and Harry Styles, no less. Sweaty commutes make streaking likely. Swe
