Equal credit to Perry and Whitford

Thank you for a great issue [December 2023]. It was the best issue with the best articles and interviews that I’ve seen and read in a very long time. Thank you for the insight into Aerosmith [via] great articles and interviews with them. It’s about time they got credited as a band and not just one person. I had always thought Joe Perry was the only lead guitarist in the band — until I saw them in person on the Rocks tour in 1976. Brad and Joe were trading riffs and solos the whole show. They are a world-class rock ’n’ roll guitar team. The rest of the band were solid too. And those early photos of Joe and Brad playing B.C. Rich guitars through Marshall amps in the Seventies got me into doing that as well. Well done!

A Thanksgiving to remember

Ronnie Hawkins and Robbie Robertson in 1976

In the Robbie Roberston feature in the December issue (in the item about the Band’s “Who Do You Love”), you said the Band’s final concert was on Thanksgiving Day 1977, when in reality it was Thanksgiving Day 1976. Since it’s of such historical importance musically, I just wanted to clear that up for others.

The world needs more Gary Moore

Gary Moore in the early Nineties

I noticed one glaring omission from your list of great guitar players from the Nineties [November 2023]: Gary Moore. He released his best album, Still Got the Blues, in 1990, followed by After Hours in 1992 and Blues for Greeny in 1995. The solo on “Still Got the Blues” is one of the all-time greats, along with a tone that was beyond compare. I’m disappointed Gary wasn’t mentioned in any of the articles. There was plenty of Kurt Cobain praise, which is a joke compared to Gary Moore.

Maybe some people have forgotten how great a player he was, but I haven’t, and think he deserves some recognition. Feel free to publish this letter. Maybe it will wake up some other people.
