Our pick of the month’s most delectable and wallet-bothering new gear

NAMM 2024 Round-Up

Last issue, we brought you a few previews of new gear for 2024 and now, with the dust settled on Anaheim’s NAMM Show, there’s a whole lotta gassin’ going on at Guitarist HQ. From long-anticipated signature guitars to the return of classic vintage models, and even some reimagining going on, there’s new gear emerging across a range of price points for this year, and we’re just scratching the surface. Here are just some of the most exciting new releases that’ll be hitting the shelves in the months to come.

CÓRDOBA STAGE TRADITIONAL CD £624

2023’s Córdoba Stage brought us feedback-free, nylon-string sounds in a crossover ‘nylonstring for electric players’ format. Now, as the name suggests, traditional nylon players can enjoy the same benefits. The Stage Traditional features a chambered solid mahogany body, topped with solid cedar. The fingerboard is flat rosewood and the nut width is a flamenco-friendly 52mm, with a 12th-fret body join. Inside, it’s home to the Córdoba/Fishman Stage Pickup System, which uses an under-saddle piezo and body sensor combination, the latter of which can be blended in via a dedicated control. It comes with a recycled nylon gigbag and is available now. www.cordobaguitars.com

THIRD MAN DONNER TRIPLE THREAT &THIRD MAN DIY FUZZ £95 & £68

Jack White has shocked tone snobs worldwide by teaming up with affordable gear brand Donner via his own Third Man Hardware brand for the Triple Threat, an all-analogue multieffects unit priced at just £95. Inside the pedal are Distortion, Phaser and Echo circuits, with a full set of controls (volume, gain and tone for Distortion; level, rate and depth for Phaser; level, feedback and time for Echo).

Third Man Hardware has also announced its new Fuzz-a-Tron DIY fuzz pedal kit (£68). This two-knob fuzz kit includes everything you need to build the pedal (including the enclosure) and is aimed at beginner builders, requiring “little or no soldering experience”. uk.donnermusic.com

EPIPHONE DAVE GROHL £1,249

Foo Fighters’ frontman has long been associated with the Pelham Blue DG-335, based on his red Trini Lopez, which has been used on every Foos album to date. While eye-wateringly expensive Gibson versions have been available in limited quantities, fans of The Nicest Man In Rock can now get their hands on an Epiphone version. Priced at £1,249, it features a layered maple body with a one-piece mahogany neck and Indian laurel fingerboard. Visually, it looks faithful, with the split-diamond inlays, diamondshaped f-holes and a six-in-line headstock. Electronically, it’s packing Gibson USA Burstbuckers and, of course, it’s sporting a Dave Grohl signature on the rear of the headstock. www.epiphone.com
