The Galway-born actress’ breakout role was as the loveably chaotic Clare Devlin in Derry Girls. She has since gained international recognition as Bridgerton’s Penelope Featherington, whose narrative takes centre-stage in the upcoming third season of the Netflix period drama, and stars in the Channel 4 comedy Big Mood. She reflects on her career so far and stepping into the spotlight.

What is your ‘rite of spring’? ‘I feel like it is a chance for rebirth, and that is something we should all embrace. Leave what doesn’t serve you, and be excited for the future.’

Your favourite way to spend a rainy afternoon? ‘I don’t mind the rain; I grew up on the west coast of Ireland! I love to sit inside under a blanket and watch TV guilt-free.’ The flowers that make you smile? ‘I have a great local florist in London, who always lets me know the best things to get at that particular time of year.’

A new-season wardrobe essential? ‘I bought some Prada loafers in New York and I’ve been wearing the hell out of them.’
