The Christmas special of the madcap singing competition aired on Christmas Day, and now it’s time for the start of the new series proper. It’s hosted as ever by Joel Dommett, and the fine judging panel of Davina McCall, Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan are all back in their chairs, ready to offer outlandish guesses as to who is belting out the tunes within each costume and mask. There’ll be a batch of 12 new famous faces competing to follow in the footsteps of previous winners Nicola Roberts, Joss Stone, Natalie Imbruglia and Charlie Simpson, and there are some new “characters” including the brilliant Air Fryer, plus Eiffel Tower, Piranha, Dippy Egg and Bigfoot.

The team behind the originalPaddington and this sequel have just unleashed their lovely new film Wonka. But as good as that movie undoubtedly is, it doesn’t quite hit the heights of this magnificent piece of work, which is in fact so good, it’s officially the best reviewed film in history. So, if for some reason you haven’t watched it yet, immerse yourself in the story of the Peruvian bear coming up against a dastardly actor, deliciously played by Hugh Grant.
