She’s been showing her vulnerable side
Ariana Grande has made her hotly-awaited return to music with seventh studio album Eternal Sunshine. But after four years away, the ponytailed singer is feeling somewhat apprehensive.
Ariana confessed she hadn’t planned to make an album until after we’ve seen her as Glinda in the upcoming Wicked film, but there came a point where it “started pouring out”. She told podcast host Zach Sang, “I think I’m the most nervous person on the earth… because I care so much and I wear my heart outside of my body.
“For so long, 90 per cent of the time, I was ‘pop-star Ari’ and I had a hard time separating or acknowledging how much more important ‘human Ari’ is. And how much better I can be as ‘pop-star Ari’ once I nurture ‘human Ari’… Now I feel like 99 per cent of the time I’m ‘human Ari’.”
The 30-year-old vocal powerhouse has always worn her heart on her sleeve in her songs. As well as Thank U, Next – an ode to the exes who’d wronged her – from her previous album, this time around, Ariana hit out at the interest around her latest drama with the single Yes, And?.
