She’s feeling the heat over Rio’s candid confession
The beginning of Rio and Kate Ferdinand’s romance started like any solid love affair –football legend Rio saw former TOWIE star Kate “devouring aburger” in aDubai restaurant, before wooing her by requesting that the DJ play Drake.
So far, so smooth.
Fast-forward eight years and the couple are now married and live an idyllic, if hectic, life with their blended family in their £4m Essex mega-mansion. They have welcomed children Cree, three, and seven-month-old Shae into the world, with Kate also stepmum to Rio’s three children, Lorenz, 17, Tate, 15, and Tia, who turns 13 this week. Their mum, Rebecca Ellison, died from breast cancer in 2015.
But last week, the pair let fans in on what happens behind closed doors – and it seems rows over chores and toilet habits aren’t reserved solely for the rest of us. In a candid confession on Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch’s The Therapy Crouch podcast, Rio, 45, admitted, “Kate has never farted in her life. She doesn’t even go for anumber two. If she farted in front of me, Iswear down it could be over, romantically.”
And while this might explain Kate’s recent confession that she steers clear of takeaways (although if health guru Joe Wicks can accidentally fart in front of the nation, surely Kate can in her own home?), asource tells heat that Rio’s comments have sparked concerns.
We’re told, “They’ll never be one of those couples who burp and fart in front of each other or talk about their toilet habits, and they both agree on that. But although Rio was joking on the pod, he admits he has expectations for Kate and she knows he likes her to be ‘ladylike’. Ever since she got with Rio, she has felt she’s been judged in many different areas of her life, so she’s always made that extra bit of effort with everything, and that includes looking great. But because Kate always feels under pressure to be the perfect wife and mum, she can find it hard to relax and be her true self sometimes.”
