This time, they’re arguing over his UK return
As he prepares to make a long-awaited return to the UK next month, it seems this trip could see Prince Harry jetting in alone. We’re told his wife MeghanMarkleis planning to stay in the US with their children, Archie, four, and Lilibet, two, rather than join him. But while many initially thought it was Meghan putting her foot down, it seems the idea for a solo visit has come from Harry.
Harry, 39, is due to fly back in May to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, which he founded in 2014. It would be the Duke of Sussex’s first visit since February, when he dashed over from the States for a brief 45-minute reunion with his estranged father King Charles, after finding out he’d been diagnosed with cancer. Harry is set to make a speech at a special service at St Paul’s Cathedral on 8 May, and while he’s normally accompanied by his wife on all things Invictus, that may not be the case this time around.
According to an insider, Harry, 39, feels that with Charles and sister-in-law Kate Middleton both having treatment for cancer, it may not the best time for the couple to show up together. “Harry has decided it’s best that Meghan to stay in the US when he visits the UK next month – insisting her presence will cause too much angst, heartache and stress for the family,” saysheat’s source. “Given theseriousnessof Kate’s condition, Harry is conscious of inflicting any unnecessary stress on her.”
Harry and Kate have enjoyed a good relationship in the past, with the prince previously describing her as “the sister I’ve never had and always wanted”. But since he and Meghan stepped down as working royals – and made damaging claims and accusations about his family – relations have remained strained. But it appears Harry is hoping to use his time in the UK to start making amends with Kate and his brother the Prince of Wales.
