The showbiz world was rocked last week when Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes announced they were splitting after 27 years together and 14 years of marriage. But despite the couple coming to this difficult decision, asource tells heat that Loose Women star Ruth is looking forward to the future more than ever, as she gets ready to embark on this new chapter.
Ruth and Eamonn, both 64, first met in 1997 and went on to become one of the nation’s most iconic TV couples after presenting This Morning together from 2006 until 2021. The pair welcomed son Jack in 2002 and tied the knot in 2010. But it has “confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing”, and Eamonn addressed the split days later on his GB News breakfast show, thanking fans for their transpired that they have been living secret lives off-screen for the past couple of years, with Eamonn moving out of the family home now that their split has been made public.
Following the news, aspokesperson for the couple said they have support. Meanwhile, although Ruth looked in high spirits as she was snapped still wearing her wedding ring, our insider says this wasn’t an easy decision for her to reach.
We’re told, “Ruth would hate for the public to see her as someone who doesn’t take marriage seriously. She can hold her head up high and say she tried absolutely everything she could to save the relationship, but it got to apoint where it wasn’t making her happy any more, and once Jack turned 21, she knew it was time to put herself first for achange –so now, she’s fully focusing on her life and career.”
The source continues, “She’s not expecting things to be easy, but she’s already rediscovering herself. She’s 64 now and doesn’t want to waste time –she’s got arenewed energ y and wants to explore more career opportunities as well as passion projects.”
Our source also reveals that Ruth is ready to enjoy her new single life and let her hair down with the girls, but is holding back out of respect for Eamonn, “She wants to enjoy herself and be happy –and she wants the same for Eamonn –but she knows that now might not be the best time to be pictured out partying.”
