For Bafta award-winning actress Jodie Comer, beauty is about “comfort” and “feeling content”. And she’s inspired by her scouse mum’s steadfast approach to self-care: “My mother taught me that consistency is key. She would always moisturise her face and body when she got out of the shower. It was a ritual of hers that she always stuck to.”

As Jodie takes up temporary residency in New York, appearing on Broadway in her critically-acclaimed one-woman show, Prima Facie, she still finds time to look after her skin: “The best piece of beauty advice I’ve been given is to always wash your face in the evening when you’ve had make-up on. I like to use The Exceptional Chronobiology Sleep Mask the evening before, too.”

On her days off, Jodie often goes make-up free. “I definitely feel more comfortable,” she says. “It’s kind of nice to let my skin breathe.” But she does rate sustainable make-up brand Hourglass, “I think their products are so beautiful. I like that with their foundation sticks you can control the coverage”.

When in London, Jodie makes a beeline for her favourite facialist, Jasmina Vico, whose method involves a mix of acidic peels, laser and facial massage to brighten and hydrate skin. “A friend introduced me,” Jodie says. “Jasmina r
