WINTER PASTELS
From swathes of sky blue and dusky pink at Richard Quinn and Cormio, to flashes of powder pigment at Shang Xia and Victoria Beckham, the catwalks were awash with cool pastels. It’s a deparure from the earthy autumnal palette we’ve come to expect, and we’re into it. Experiment with a single shade, topped with a translucent shimmer, for a dopamine-boosting colour hit.
LAVISH LINER
Accentuate your eyes with statement liner. Cursive shapes and angular lines kept cropping up backstage. For a fun, graphic flourish, use an extra-fine detailing brush to create painterly strokes, as per Alessandra Rich. Or pick up a felt-tipped liquid liner for something more defined and intentional, like at Ottolinger.
RAISIN-RED LIPS
This is your red lip reimagined. “We are taking the idea of a red lip, but dialling it right down, to this deep, dark raisin colour,” explains Terry Barber, lead make-up artist at MAC. You can mix several shades to get your perfect hue, and the edges are blurred, so no lipliner required.
CHIGNON CHIC
Prep is key to minimise flyaways. “Create a clean middle parting with a tail comb. Mist hairspray into roots through to mid-lengths and brush hair into a sleek low ponytail.” Sam McKnight
The viral ‘vertibow’ at Balmain proves that a sleek bun doesn’t have to be boring. Backstage, lengthy tresses were folded into an hourglass shape. Lead hairstylist Sam McKnight tells us: “We’ve subverted the chignon, creating vertical hair bows finished with black elastic for a sporty utilitarian feel.”
