Sophia Roe is a modern muse. The Danish influencer often makes the international best-dressed lists, where she embodies a style that defies trends to showcase cut, quality and eco-credentials. A creative powerhouse, she also designs just those kinds of clothes for the label she co-founded, The Garment. Asked where her look comes from, Sophia tells us that it’s a natural part of her heritage: “Danish people don’t ‘get dolled up’… they wear simple, practical clothes. But it definitely isn’t boring. Simplicity is about being precise,” she insists.

How did your love of fashion start?

The urge to express myself creatively has always been there. As a child I would dress up my dolls, try on clothes with my friends and spend hours by myself in my room making collages.

Influencer, designer, creative director… which of these best describes you?

To receive the very best education in fashion you need to go out and work, learning about different areas and following your instincts to find what keeps you inspired. I do lots of different collaborations, but always using my own personal style.

Sustainability is key to your label. Do you think that 100% sustainable fashion is possible?

Not exactly, but you can always improve. It’s about new technology, and having the right mindset, whether you’re creating or consuming. You can mix things from different seasons, keeping garments for a long time. Sustainability means shopping smart and owning less.
