hfEDITOR’SLETTER

Dear readers, as I write this letter for my very first issue as editor of Hello! Fashion, I’m filled with a mix of excitement and nostalgia.

Fashion, for me, has always been more than just clothing; it’s a form of escapism, a way to dream and to be whisked away into a world of elegance.

This sentiment is probably rooted in my earliest memories, back to when my mother, while learning English, would watch episodes of The Bold and The Beautiful and Dynasty on repeat. I was utterly captivated, not just by the drama, but by the quintessential 80s glamour – think Joan Collins and her era of dazzling excess. Growing up, I aspired to embody the confidence, and of course impeccable style, of those women.

Having been with Hello! Fashion for two years, I’ve had the privilege of delving into our rich archives, where iconic images of Diana, Princess Margaret and other luminaries have left an indelible mark on my heart. The era was truly a spectacle of innovation and audacity. The 80s were a time of undeniable sparkle. Diamonds seemed to shine brighter, shoulder pads dared to reach wider and hairstyles definitely pushed higher.

Choosing the direction for my inaugural issue’s cover was instinctive. I wanted to pay homage to that era – a world that continues to inspire all Hello! readers. It was clear to the entire team at Hello! Fashion that Chloe was the perfect choice to bring the vision to life. Chloe isn’t just another face in the crowd; she’s a testament to hard work and determination. Hailing from Cheshire, she has crafted a self-made career that many only dream of, embodying the essence of what makes our readership so unique and inspiring.

Clothes have a profound ability to empower all of us, to transform our self-perception and the way we’re perceived by the world
