Newly crowned King Charles and Queen Camilla give beaming smiles in Buckingham Palace at the end of a spectacular day

The eyes of the world were on London last weekend for the coronation of King Charles III and his devoted wife of 18 years Queen Camilla.

Dignitaries and foreign royals flew in from around the globe to witness the ancient ritual that saw His Majesty become the 40th monarch to be crowned inside Westminster Abbey.

Over the next 64 pages, we are proud to bring you the most comprehensive coverage of the historic events that took place on 6 May, from the arrival of the 2,300 guests to the magnificent scenes of pomp and ceremony for which the UK is justly celebrated. We take you through how the day unfolded, step by step – starting with the build-up of crowds who flocked to The Mall and crowded around the abbey, then exploring the ceremony in detail, with its symbolic high point coming as St Edward’s Crown was placed on the King’s head.

And of course, at

HELLO!, we were delighted to be invited to join the congregation in the abbey and to support the King and his family by handing out 10,000 free flags for those cheering along the procession route. One of the most charming images of the day was the arrival of the Prince and Princess of Wales in full regalia at the abbey, accompanied by Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, both dressed immaculately for their grandparents’ big day.

It was a picture of formality and tradition underpinned by family unity as the couple gave reassuring smiles to their eight-year-old daughter and five-year-old son.

The Prince, who was to play a significant role in his father’s ceremony, was dressed in the deep-blue silk velvet Garter robe, under which he wore the ceremonial dress uniform of the Welsh Guards in his capacity as Colonel of the regiment.

But it was his wife and daughter who drew the most attention, with Kate, as usual, rising to the occasion in a stunning show of beauty and elegance.

The blues and reds of her robe of the Royal Victorian Order were offset by her exquisite silver headpiece, a design collaboration between milliner Jess Collett and the Alexander McQueen fashion house, with silver bullion, crystal and silver thread worked into three-dimensional leaf embroidery.

And in a touching tribute, she wore a pair of pearl and diamond earrings that once belonged to her husband’s mother Diana, Princess of Wales.
