KICKING OFF HER WORLD TOUR IN LONDON
QUEEN OF POP RULES ON A NIGHT OF CELEBRATION
Under the pulsating multicoloured l o u lights illuminating the O2, Madonna kicked off the first of six sold-out shows in London on her The Celebration Tour.
Showcasing slick choreography and dazzling in extravagant costumes and glittering jewels, the 65-yearold singer spent over two hours performing more than 40 of her biggest hits, taking fans on a journey through a career spanning four decades and 14 studio albums.
Several famous faces snagged the hottest tickets in town as they flocked to the arena, which has a capacity of 20,000, to see the queen of pop on her long-awaited comeback. Among them were The Great British Bake Off presenter Alison Hammond and TV host Graham Norton, who later told his social media followers: “The Queen!!! So so so good!! An epic show for the ages.”

Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm wrote on Instagram: “Words cannot express how powerful this show is. I was transported through every moment of my life since discovering @Madonna 40 years ago, the woman that has inspired, educated and paved the way for the life and career I am so lucky to have.”

Singer Paloma Faith was all smiles as she posed with a large cardboard cut-out of Madonna, and Boy George congratulated the Material Girl star on an “excellent” concert.
INTO THE GROOVE
Sporting a series of striking costumes, Madonna re-created some of her most iconic looks from over the years.
She opened the show in a theatrical black gown with dramatic large sleeves, embroidered with silver stitching that matched her intricate headpiece, and told the crowd: “It is so good to be back in London.”
There was also an outing for an updated version of the Jean Paul Gaultier cone bra from her 1990 Blond Ambition tour, after she called upon the designer – with whom she has worked several times – to create a black strapless iteration for her.
