New bob marley biopic is a family affair ‘one love’ premiere big names get up, stand up on the red carpet in celebration of reggae legend

There was much love for the late Bob Marley on the red carpet in London last week. Stars including Idris and Sabrina Elba and Lashana Lynch were joined by the reggae legend’s son Ziggy for the UK premiere of biopic Bob Marley: One Love at the BFI Imax cinema.

Naomi Cowan, who plays singer Marcia Griffiths in the film, stunned in a bright blue dress while Lashana, who takes on the role of Bob’s widow Rita, posed for photographers next to Kingsley Ben-Adir, who plays the lead.

Lashana said she relished learning about Rita while working on the project, which tracks the life and music of the iconic Jamaican musician up to his death at the age of 36 in 1981. “Getting to know Rita, through spending time with her personally and on the page, has been one of the biggest gifts,” the actress has said. “Her feminine power is so apparent and mighty that my core has almost received a resurgence by playing her. I could retire tomorrow and feel I went out with one of the best decisions for my spirit, my career and my culture. I hope Jamaica can feel proud of what we have created.”
