Honoured with Royal Mint collectible coin Eight years after his death, George Michael is to appear on a Royal Mint collectible coin as part of its Music Legends series.
The coin, designed by artistt Sandra Deiana, features a headshot of the singer in his trademark sunglasses together with an engraving of the refrain from his hit song Faith.
A statement from George Michael Entertainment said: “He would have been enormously proud and genuinely touched that a national institution should have decided to pay tribute to his memory in this way.”
George shot to fame in the 1980s as one half of pop duo Wham! alongside Andrew Ridgeley and went on to have a successful solo career. He died on Christmas Day 2016, aged 53.

Welcomes third son with Snapchat’s Evan Spiegel Model Miranda Kerr has given birth to her third child with husband Evan Spiegel.
“We are overjoyed by the arrival of our little Ray of sunshine, Pierre Kerr Spiegel. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome our fourth son into our family,” she wrote on social media
Well-wishers included Kourtney Kardashian, who said: “Enjoy every blissful second,” while Daisy Lowe wrote: “Massive congratulations to you and your family.”
The couple are also parents to sons Hart, five, and four-year-old Myles, while Miranda, 40, is mum to 12-year-old son Flynn with her ex-husband Orlando Bloom.

Confirms split from art dealer Caspar Jopling Singer Ellie Goulding has confirmed she has split from her husband of four years Caspar Jopling, with whom she has son Arthur, two.
“In light of recent stories, I feel I have been left with no choice but to let you all know that Caspar and I privately separated some time ago,” she said. “We remain the closest of friends and have been successfully co-parenting with our son’s best interests at heart.”
Art dealer Caspar, 32, added: “Ellie and I remain the closest of friends, most importantly ‘co-parents’ to the best kiddo in the world, Arthur. This is the last I want to say on this.”
Ellie, 37, made her announcement after she was photographed on holiday in Costa Rica with surf instructor Armando Perez.

Strictly dancer celebrates after cancer update Dancer Amy Dowden has revealed that her latest health check-up found “no evidence of disease” after undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
“NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE! Words I dreamed of! My biggest accomplishment yet!” wrote the 33-year-old Strictly Come Dancing star on Instagram. “I won’t be getting the all clear for 5 years especially with a hormone fed cancer. But it was all worth it. Words I never thought I’d hear at one point.”
