‘It’s not often you can say that you saw Meryl Streep on your way out of the bathroom or sipped champagne from a yacht that costs £150,000 a week to charter, but that is the magic of Cannes Film Festival.
Our time at the star-studded event was certainly a baptism of fire – and champagne – from the A-list chats to the glittering parties to the… wait, did we mention the yacht?
After packing our suitcases full of ridiculous dresses, we couldn’t wait to throw ourselves into the glitz and glamour of Europe’s most enchanting film festival.
From catching up with Anya Taylor-Joy on the red carpet to telling off film composer Hans Zimmer for taking too long having a turn in Naomi Campbell’s purple sequinned BMW, our experience at Cannes was unforgettable.
To kick things off, we headed to the famous Croisette, where we were immediately plunged into the resplendent world that welcomes Hollywood royalty every year.
A-listers swarm in and out of premieres and press conferences, which was where we managed to catch a moment with Anya and her Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga co-star Chris Hemsworth.
Asked what she had most been looking forward to in Cannes, Anya told hello!: “The excitement of everyone being here together.” As for her costar? Thor actor Chris flashed us a Hollywood smile along with the peace sign. We’ll take it.
Former Bond girl Léa Seydoux, promoting her new movie Le Deuxième Acte, was another famous face who stopped to chat. “I’m here to present a film. I would love to stay and be able to watch some films, but unfortunately, I can’t,” she said.
The luxurious Hôtel Martinez and the Carlton Cannes, A Regent Hotel quickly became our favourite places to relax with a cocktail and do some celebrity spotting.
We were soon rewarded with a sighting of Killers of the Flower Moon actress Lily Gladstone crossing the lobby. You never know who you’re going to see next, especially when it comes to the event’s many parties.
