Strolling hand in hand in the sunshine and looking very happy together, Peter Phillips and his new girlfriend went public at the Badminton Horse Trials.

The King’s 46-year-old nephew was in Gloucester with paediatric specialist nurse and freelance writer Harriet Sperling, whom he is understood to have met at a sporting event their children were attending.

A friend tells HELLO! the couple had met “recently” and are “spending time together, but it’s very early days”. A spokesman for Peter declined to comment, saying it was a “private matter”.

Details of his new romance come a month after it emerged the Princess Royal’s son had split from Lindsay Steven, with friends citing his “non-stop” travelling and business commitments as the reason for the end of their four-year relationship.

HORSING AROUND

Harriet looked relaxed as she and Peter walked around the grounds of the Duke of Beaufort’s Badminton estate over the four-day competition, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary.

And it was a family affair, with his daughters Savannah, 13, and Isla, 12, and his sister Zara Tindall joining them.

Zara, competing on her horse Class Action, was also seen kissing and cuddling her son Lucas, three, who cheekily poked out his tongue at her.

Husband Mike and their daughters Mia, ten, and Lena, five, were there to cheer her on, together with her parents Mark Phillips and Princess Anne, who was accompanied by husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.
