It seems straightforward enough to make flowers look pretty, but if you’d like to extend your skills beyond simply popping some blooms in a vase and plonking them on a windowsill, there are lots of expert-led courses and workshops around to help you raise your game.

Willow Crossley’s Complete Floristry Masterclass (£147) via Create Academy is another excellent starting point for enthusiastic novices, and covers everything from sourcing flowers to creating arrangements for every occasion – her students will learn about key floristry techniques and tools, and enjoy a selection of step-by-step seasonal projects.
