‘This loft room had only been recently converted before we moved in, so it was white throughout. I was grateful to work with Lick on this scheme, and started by looking at their eclectic wallpaper designs and ordered a few free samples along with some suggested paint sticker samples. I decided to paint the walls and ceiling the same colour. Originally, I tried a colour block of orange and a warmer beige on the other wall. Then I decided to make the space a more tranquil ‘up amongst the trees’-type space with blues and greens. The Canopy 01 wallpaper from Lick came first but the paint choices were easy as the Lick website suggests complementary colours for you.’
Bathroom
The bathroom was given a major spruce up on a tight budget. ‘It was usable before but lacked character with grey walls, a lino slate floor and a budget plastic bath panel,’ says Kelly. ‘We began by adding half-height panelling, making a bath panel to match, and replaced the pedestal sink with a DIY vanity unit made from a £20 vintage chest of drawers. This was finished with Polyvine Decorator’s Varnish to make it waterproof. The herringbone lino flooring has also made a huge difference and a bold banana leaf print wallpaper from I Love Wallpaper really finishes it off.’
