Bring the outside in
Take inspiration from the changing colours of the autumn leaves to add a warm atmosphere to your home. Create a scheme that instils a sense of cocooning cosiness by painting your walls in soft terracotta with accents of forest green and russet red. These colours will make your prized possessions pop and work well in combination with autumnal fruit shades, such as plum pink, blackberry purple and apple green.
Make your own pantry
Chilly autumn nights call for plenty of warming comfort food. If you’re not lucky enough to have a built-in pantry, you can recreate the same effect using IKEA Kallax shelving or wall-mounted shelves. Then get creative by styling them up with pretty glass jars to store all your dry goods, along with your favourite cookbooks and serveware.
Shine a light
Now the evenings are drawing in, you’ll want to level up your lighting. Choose a combination of floorstanding and table lamps to cast glowing pools of light around your sofa or an armchair. An adjustable task light is a handy addition if you like to read or craft in the evenings. Opt for low-energy LEDs to help keep electricity bills down.
Put your feet up
Sit back and relax with one of these footstools – some can double up as a place to perch a mug on
