Whether you’re hosting guests, or want to add cheer when arriving home, create an eye-catching entrance with these styling ideas

Take a bow
Give your porch a makeover with an oversized wreath featuring a giant bow (Esme would approve – Sewing Bee fans, you know what we’re talking about)! Add a coordinating garland and decorate potted plants to match. For a contemporary look, fill outdoor lanterns with baubles instead of candles – so cute!
Light fantastic
Keep your outdoor lighting simple for a sophisticated look. A light-up wreath is ideal when you want the festive vibes to last all month, and it can be reused year after year. If you have the space, a pair of illuminated wire trees creates symmetry either side of the front door and will guide your visitors into your home after dark.
Welcome home
Add a fresh, faux or bauble wreath to your front door to create a festive entrance. You can buy ready-made wreaths at garden centres and florists or you can make your own fresh wreath by securing bundles of bunched up moss to a frame, wrapping reel or florist’s wire around it then adding your favourite seasonal foliage on top, securing again with wire. Finish with ribbon or mini baubles.
Foliage fiesta
Go all out with festive foliage and layer up garlands, wreaths and potted fir trees to create a grand entrance to welcome your guests. If you have any evergreen plants in your front garden or porch, make the most of them by adding outdoor fairy lights or a few hard-wearing baubles. Station a few nutcrackers on duty and keep winter wellies organised with a boot rack. A festive doormat finishes the look.
