Every month, we ask two interior stylists to solve a real room design dilemma, each creating a moodboard to help our reader find the perfect solution for their space LOOK ONE: TRANQUIL SPA
Alex’s problem bathroom
This is my bathroom. It’s quite a tight space and there are no windows here, so I’d like for it to feel brighter and well-ventilated. The basin is currently too big for the bathroom, but I’d like to keep both a bath and a shower. I’d say I have quite a modern, contemporary style.
LIKES:
I like clean lines and a little colour. I’m drawn to shades of green and like plants, and not opposed to pattern!
DISLIKES:
Not a fan of anything too traditional or fussy.
B USÉ GURBUZ
why it works
A bathroom is a space for relaxation and meditation. It’s a space that nurtures ‘you’ time. A calm colour base, natural materials and foliage create the feeling that your bathroom, like the outdoors, is a living, breathing organism. These elements will work together to make your daily bathroom rituals something you look forward to.
Busé’s style tips
● Stick to a colour scheme!
Tonally matching your accessories and towels to your flooring, paint colour or tiles will give you a considered look.
● Layered lighting is super important. Candles, wall sconces and overhead lights are all options you might add.
● Plants are essential in a bathroom. You can’t have too many! Go for faux if your bathroom has no windows. Ferns or hanging trailing plants work best in high moisture areas, and you could also consider an air plant, too.
