WITHOUT a doubt, watching Pippa Funnell MBE win Burghley and the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing in September 2003. I watched it at home and can honestly say I’ve never been so nervous watching someone else ride in my life. You could have heard a pin drop during her round – and Zara Tindall’s, who followed her into the ring.

Both are World Horse Welfare patrons and both did the nation proud that day. It was a real “where were you” moment.

I WAS a guest at the 2009 Alltech FEI European Jumping and Dressage Championships at Royal Windsor as Baileys were feed partners with the sponsors, Alltech.

At lunch, I remember being conscious that a couple of 10s may have popped up on the screen. A few of us got up and made our way to the arena. It was Totilas being awarded the first 10s in dressage and going on to score more than 90% – the first horse ever to do so.

I was disappointed not to have watched the test, but privileged to have been there, enjoying a lovely lunch, in great company and getting a glimpse of dressage history being made.

WHEN Frankel came back to the unsaddling area with Sir Henry Cecil, having won his last race at Ascot in 2012, you could sense the emotion, that the people really love this bloke. I’ve never experienced that feeling before.
