Once upon a time, pink was all princesses and bubblegum – then came millennial pink (a muted midway point between blancmange and salmon) and, more recently, ‘Barbiecore’ (basically the hottest of hot pinks). Texture plays a big part in any design scheme. Softly crumpled table linen in understated pinks and barely there stripes is perfect for relaxed dining, while on the walls a plaster effect in a naturally pigmented paint will add interest.

One of the great things about pink is that different shades work together beautifully. Here, a subtle rose wall colour is a neutral backdrop that allows the earthy peach on the sheer curtain to take the lead. Its lightweight floatiness gives just the right amount of contrast and vibrancy, while darker elements in the room ground the whole look.
