THIS MONTH WE’RE LOVING

1 COLOUR-CL ASH CURTAINS

Curtains, from left:Florence in Honey, Serpentine and Neptune; all £65/m, Villa Nova. For a similar dining table and chairs, try Heal’s

If you want to turn your window dressing into a talking point, this season’s big new trend of colour-block curtains will do the job nicely. It’s as easy as it looks – just choose two (or three – it depends how much window you’ve got) different coloured fabrics instead of one. The best news is heritage brand Villa Nova’s new range of wide-width fabrics (including Florence, shown here in three shades) is chic and relaxed and rather perfect for this trend. As well as being lightweight and billowy, there’s a huge range of hues to choose from, with a two-tone effect adding a rich depth. Oh and it’s washable, too. Shop the collection at villanova.co.uk.

2 DESIGN INSPO FROM LONDON’S PRET TIEST PUB

It’s not often that a traditional boozer has us itching to redecorate but if you’ve been to The Surprise (thesurprise-chelsea.co.uk), you’ll know why we’re into it. The local in London’s Chelsea dates back to the 1800s and was revamped in 2021 by interior designer Isabella Worsley. We’ve fallen for its charming authenticity, playfulness and feminine flair, including terracotta-pink walls and whimsical cafe curtains. We think this ‘pub chic’ look would suit any room, minus the bar and beer pumps, obviously.

3 Ecofriendly candles from Maame Sarpong

Aromatherapy scented candle, £32; and diffuser, £35; both Purscents

During lockdown many people were searching for a creative outlet, and for Maame Sarpong, founder of Purscents, it was aromatherapy. It all started in a countryside cafe, where Maame couldn’t help but feel soothed by the fragrance of the flowers around her. Once home, she began recreating the scents of blooming roses and calming lavender in her own candles, and by the end of 2021, Purscents was recognised for its eco credentials at The Beauty Shortlist Awards. Maame’s goal is to cut down on empty candle containers, usually discarded after the candle has burned down, so she has created refillable pouches. ‘I’m a small business, so every sale means something to me,’ she says. And her favourite candle? ‘The Clarity. It brings together refreshing eucalyptus with rosemary and lime to cleanse and uplift any space.’ Find out more at purscents.co.uk.
