CREATE A WILD DISPLAY
Florist Philippa Craddock created this spectacular arrangement using a mix of twigs and evergreen foliage studded with wine-coloured hellebores, which would last for an evening or special occasion; you could use realistic faux flowers for a more lasting display. Start with a base of hazel branches and secure with eye hooks and reel wire. Add in stems of evergreens, such as cotoneaster, and wire onto the branches. Place hellebores into small test tubes filled with water and finish with airy stems such as Talinum ‘Long John’.
SET A SEASONAL TABLE
A classic green and white theme with a central ‘forest’ of foliage looks sumptuous and celebratory for a special occasion. A mix of hardy evergreens, such as Viburnum tinus, wax flower, eucalyptus, myrtle and spruce will last the festive season. Keep the arrangement low, out of guests’ eyeline, and use a row of containers filled with water and scrunched-up chickenwire to keep stems in place.
GO FOR LOW-KEY ELEGANCE
Create impact with a simple, sculptural arrangement in a clear glass vase. A few bold stems, such as eryngium, eucalyptus and berried viburnum, as seen here, will look impressive arranged together and stand out against a pale backdrop for a monochrome look with a magical feel.
