This month, Icon gazes both back and forward. The November 2018 issue recounts the tale of the pioneering brand Thonet, which turns 200 years old this year, and looks at the ever-accelerating innovations in videogame design. We consider whether buildings are able to extend lifespans, defend the digital architectural image and excoriate the infuriatingly delectable smartphone screen. We visit two new gallery spaces in south-east London, 6a Architects’ South London Gallery extension and Assemble’s Goldsmiths Centre for Contemporary Art.
