LAYER YOUR COLOUR

Choosing just one green can create a flat, two-dimensional space, but by combining many shades together you’ll add depth and interest. A chalky sage green for walls is a restful choice for a living space, paired with a botanical wallpaper and rich forest and leaf greens for the sofa and cushions.

CONSIDER FABRICS

Textural linens and sumptuous velvets are the perfect choice here for upholstery. Velvets elevate the interior, while faux fur throws and the boucle armchair add to the cosy Christmas feel. You can use meterage of linen as a runner for the dining table, or wrap presents in fabric offcuts, secured with a satin bow.

MIX FAUX AND REAL

Don’t be afraid to use faux garlands, wreaths and even trees as a base for fresh foliage. A faux garland is a brilliant starting point to trail up a stairwell, where baubles and ornaments can be secured easily using wire. Real foliage can be added later to fill in gaps and create that wonderful Christmassy scent.

BALANCE BAUBLES

Pick a colour palette for your tree decorations as you would for a room, choosing three or four colours and different shapes and sizes. Start by hanging plain baubles first, largest ones at the base and smaller ones at the top. Put sparkling decs at the tips of branches so that they can better catch the light.

WELCOME HOME

Displaying gifts in the hallway creates an inviting feel. Festive swags and a mini tree decorated with charming ceramic bells completes the setting

FINISHING TOUCH

Create your own gift wrap with Kraft paper and add gold hand-painted stripes. Embellish with amber glass baubles and wint
