THE PROBLEM
THE SOLUTION
‘Before our sons came along, Jenna and I muddled through with a 2x2.5m kitchen, leading to a small dining room, in an uninsulated lean-to. When the boys were born just 13 months apart, and, in the winter months, we all had to huddle over an Ikea play table in the living room to eat our meals together, we knew we’d outgrown the existing space. Our large garden was ideal for a two-storey extension, comprising an open-plan kitchen with master bedroom and en suite above. As we own a kitchen company, @luckin_kitchens, this was the ideal opportunity to create our dream space, including a good-sized range, pantry, large island, natural stone worktops and a polished concrete floor. The bespoke Shaker cabinets were made in our workshop and hand-painted in Off-Black.’

Daniel Luckin of Luckin Kitchens explains why he chose two types of natural stone for his kitchen transformation.
‘I’ve always loved the beauty and elegance of natural stone, especially marble, which lends a sense of luxury and individuality to any space. Each piece is unique, enhancing the bespoke feel of a kitchen.’
‘Selecting contrasting worktops can create balance and focus in the design and help to zone the kitchen.’
‘For our project, we chose a subtle Belgian
Blue fossil limestone which complements the striking Calacatta Venato marble beautifully.’
