1 “White acts as a blank canvas”
‘We use the sheltered courtyard as an extension of the house, where I have created a relaxed bohemian vibe. The corner sofa cushions are in an outdoor fabric so we can leave them out all summer, and I brought in an eclectic touch with accessories, such as the colourful cushions and the rug.’
2 “Architectural features add character”
‘Fabulous vaulted ceilings and interesting elevations draw the eye. In the kitchen area, the brick alcove and wooden mantel over the range cooker create a rustic focal point, and we chose the textural pendant lights to enhance the height of the space.’
TRIO OF PENDANTS
Striking lighting creates the wow factor, plus is a practical addition
3 “Cladding creates an East Coast vibe”
‘I didn’t want plastered walls as they’re too pristine and would feel too new. So we dressed some rooms top-to-toe with cladding for texture and warmth. We didn’t use a refined boarding so it doesn’t matter if it gets damaged a little – this would just add more character.’
STATEMENT BAR STOOLS
Bold, industrial style injects texture and drama to an all-white scheme
4 “Choose woven materials for texture”
‘We opted for storage with drawers, open shelves for display, and textural wicker baskets. The natural fibres are carried through to the jute rug for a beachy, laid-back aesthetic.’
CONTRASTING BACKDROP
Painting the back of open shelving a dark shade creates depth and gives treasures on display a chance to shine
5 “Earthy colours introduce a cosy feel”
‘We love to sit in the lookout area
