Load your method feeder the alternative way

If longer waits for bites are the norm on your favourite fishery, this is the way to set the trap

IF you’ve been fishing with rod and line for even just a couple of months, there’s every chance you’ve already mastered how to load a Method feeder.

A brilliant way of creating a tight ball of bait that keeps your loosefeed and hookbait close together, it leads to carp, bream, F1s and plenty of other species hooking themselves within a split second of falling for the trap.

But there is an alternative way to load a Method that helps do two things at once. The bait traditionally peels off the frame quickly, with frequent casting best to reset.

If you are fishing a venue where leaving the rig in longer is more likely to produce results, however, the loading technique outlined here is the way forward. The top layer of bait crumbles away quickly to create a small bed on the deck, with the bottom layer staying glued to the frame for much longer so that an empty and suspicious looking feeder isn’t obviously visible.

1 FILL THE MOULD

Grab your Method feeder mould and three quarter fill it with your chosen loosefeed. An even mixture of dampened 2mm micro pellets and fishmeal groundbait are a reliable choice at this time of year for a wide range of species.

2 BUILD THE FIRST LAYER

Push your feeder firmly into
