Kansa wand face massage was developed to help improve the skin’s health and appearance naturally, without the need for invasive treatment.

It is based on the principles of Ayurveda, the traditional medicine system of India, which focuses on harmonious, healthy living and restoring balance to the body, mind and spirit.

Kansa wand face massage combines three therapeutic elements in one treatment: massage of the facial marmas (Ayurvedic acupressure points), nourishing oils and a simple massage tool, called a kansa wand.

‘Kansa’, which translates as ‘bronze’, is a metal alloy that contains copper, tin and trace elements, such as zinc. It is considered a sacred and healing metal in India and when applied to the skin as part of a treatment, is believed to boost vitality. The wand can move deep into the contours of the face and around the brow line, jawline and neck, helping to release tension in the underlying muscles and fascia, while stimulating marma points to restore and balance energy to the areas treated.

“One of the best ways to improve the appearance of your facial skin is with regular massage,” says Mary Dalgleish, a Vice President of FHT who practises and teaches kansa wand face massage (head2toemassage.co.uk).

“Working the face and neck gently draws more blood to the surface and this increased microcirculation helps to nourish the skin, remove waste and boost radiance. Good circulation is vital for a healthy complexion and improving lymphatic drainage in the area being massaged helps reduce congestion and puffiness, which can leave the skin and eyes looking brighter and clearer.”

Following a full consultation, your therapist will invite you to lie back on a treatment couch, fully clothed. Massage oil will then be smoothed into your face and neck, before the wand, which has a wooden handle and fixed metal dome, is introduced to the middle of your forehead
